Product Description

The MG996R Digital Metal Gear Servo Motor is a high-torque servo designed for RC vehicles, robotics, aeromodelling, marine applications, and DIY automation projects. As an upgraded version of the MG995, it features improved electronics for better accuracy, centering, and smoother servo control.

The servo uses a durable all-metal gear train and provides up to 11 kgf·cm stall torque at 6V, making it suitable for applications requiring strong and reliable mechanical movement.

Upgraded Digital Control

The MG996R features an improved PCB and IC control system, providing better positioning accuracy, improved centering, and smoother operation compared with earlier servo designs. Its standard PWM interface allows easy control using Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other compatible controllers.

Heavy-Duty Metal Gearing

The servo is equipped with an all-metal gear train designed for high-load applications. The metal gears provide improved durability and resistance to mechanical stress, making the servo suitable for demanding robotics and RC applications.

Double Ball Bearing Support

Power Supply Warning

The MG996R can draw significant current under heavy load, with stall current potentially reaching approximately 2.5A. It is strongly recommended to use a suitable external BEC or battery power source rather than powering the servo directly from an Arduino 5V pin.

An inadequate power supply can cause voltage drops, servo jitter, controller brownouts, resets, or unstable operation.

Wiring Safety

Always verify the servo’s positive, negative, and signal connections before powering the unit. Ensure the power supply provides the correct voltage and sufficient current for the intended load.
