Product Description

The XY-LPWM Signal Generator PWM Pulse Frequency Duty Cycle Adjustable Module is a versatile PWM signal generator designed to produce adjustable pulse signals with independently configurable frequency and duty cycle. It features an LCD display that allows users to monitor the configured parameters conveniently.

The module supports a wide frequency range from 1Hz to 150kHz and provides a 1% to 100% duty-cycle adjustment range. Its automatic frequency-range switching makes it easy to select precise output frequencies from low-frequency signals up to high-frequency PWM pulses.

The module features dedicated controls for adjusting frequency and duty cycle, with single presses providing fine adjustments and long presses enabling faster changes. The configured parameters are automatically saved when the module is powered off, allowing the previous settings to be retained after a power interruption.

With TTL-based serial communication, the XY-LPWM can also be controlled through an external MCU or other compatible serial device. It is suitable for stepper motor drivers, MCU pulse generation, PWM control experiments, electronic testing, and square-wave signal generation.

Design and Construction

The XY-LPWM module features a compact design with an integrated LCD display and four adjustment switches. Two switches are used for frequency adjustment, while the other two control the duty cycle.

The LCD provides a convenient way to view the configured frequency and duty cycle. The module automatically changes the frequency display resolution according to the selected frequency range, allowing both low-frequency and high-frequency signals to be configured.

The control switches support both individual-step adjustment and rapid adjustment through long pressing, making parameter configuration convenient during testing and development.

Frequency Adjustment

The module automatically switches between four frequency ranges:

1. 1Hz–999Hz: Resolution of 1Hz.
2. 1.00kHz–9.99kHz: Resolution of 0.01kHz.
3. 10.0kHz–99.9kHz: Resolution of 0.1kHz.
4. 100kHz–150kHz: Resolution of 1kHz.

For example:

• 100 on the display represents 100Hz.
• 1.01 represents 1.01kHz.
• 54.1 represents 54.1kHz.
• 1.2.4 represents 124kHz.

Working Principle

The XY-LPWM generates a digital PWM pulse signal according to the frequency and duty-cycle values configured by the user.

The frequency determines how many pulses are generated per second, while the duty cycle determines the percentage of each cycle for which the output signal remains HIGH.

For example, a duty-cycle setting of 50% produces a signal that remains HIGH for half of each cycle and LOW for the remaining half.

The module’s dedicated controls allow the frequency and duty cycle to be adjusted independently. The configured values are displayed on the LCD and stored automatically, allowing the settings to be retained after power loss.

Serial Communication

The module supports TTL-level serial communication with the following communication parameters:

Frequency Commands

The frequency can be configured through serial commands using the appropriate display format.

• F1.0.5 – Sets the frequency to 105kHz.

Duty Cycle Command

The duty cycle can be configured using the DXXX command.

• D050 – Sets the duty cycle to 50%.
• The supported duty-cycle range is 1% to 100%.

Parameter Read Command

A read command can be sent to retrieve the configured parameters.

The module returns:

• DOWN – Setup successful.
• FALL – Setup failed.

Parameter Storage

The XY-LPWM automatically saves the configured frequency and duty-cycle parameters. When the module is powered off or experiences a power interruption, the previously configured settings are retained.

This feature eliminates the need to manually configure the parameters each time the module is powered on.
