Product Description

The SCT-013-015 Non-Invasive AC Current Sensor is a split-core Current Transformer (CT) designed for measuring and monitoring AC current without disconnecting or cutting the existing electrical wiring. Its convenient clamp-style construction allows the sensor to be easily installed around a single AC conductor.

The sensor features a silicon steel sheet magnetic core and comes with approximately 1 metre of connecting cable, making it suitable for integration into energy monitoring systems, electrical measurement equipment, and protection circuits.

Working Principle

The SCT-013-015 works as a Current Transformer (CT). When an AC conductor carrying current passes through the sensor’s magnetic core, it produces a changing magnetic field.

The sensor detects this magnetic field and generates a corresponding electrical output signal that can be processed by a suitable measurement circuit, energy meter, microcontroller, or monitoring system.

Because the sensor clamps around the conductor rather than being electrically connected in series with the load, it provides a non-invasive method of measuring AC current.

Design and Construction

The sensor uses a split-core structure, allowing the core to be opened and placed around an existing AC conductor. This makes installation convenient for electrical monitoring and retrofit applications.
