Product Description
The Sensor Shield V5.0 Expansion Board is a versatile Arduino expansion shield designed to simplify the connection of sensors, modules, displays, and actuators to Arduino UNO R3 and compatible development boards.
The shield expands and organizes the Arduino UNO’s available I/O pins into convenient 3-pin Signal-VCC-GND interfaces, making it easier to connect sensors and modules without requiring a separate breadboard or complicated wiring. The clearly labeled headers help reduce wiring errors and make prototyping faster and more convenient.
The V5.0 version features a stackable shield design that can be mounted directly onto an Arduino UNO while allowing compatible shields to be added above it. It also uses an immersion-gold PCB finish for improved contact reliability and resistance to oxidation.
In addition to standard digital and analog sensor connections, the shield provides dedicated interfaces for I2C/IIC, Bluetooth, APC220 wireless modules, SD card communication, ultrasonic sensors, and 12864 LCD displays.
The board also provides a centralized interface for servo-control applications, making it useful for robotics projects where multiple sensors, communication modules, displays, and servo systems need to be connected to the same Arduino-based controller.

Design and Construction
The Sensor Shield V5.0 is designed to mount directly onto an Arduino UNO in a shield-style configuration.
Each accessible sensor I/O is arranged in a convenient three-pin format: Signal, VCC, and GND. This arrangement allows compatible sensors and modules to be connected using standard 2.54mm dual-female jumper cables.
The shield’s organized layout reduces the need for separate breadboards and helps keep project wiring clean and structured. The immersion-gold PCB finish provides a durable surface with improved resistance to oxidation.
The stackable design also allows users to add compatible Arduino shields and expansion boards where required.
Working Principle
The shield acts as an interface and expansion board between the Arduino UNO and connected sensors, modules, displays, and actuators.
It does not function as a standalone controller. Instead, it routes the Arduino UNO’s power, ground, digital, analog, and communication signals to conveniently arranged connectors.
Users can connect sensors directly to the labeled interfaces and access them from Arduino programs using the corresponding UNO pins and communication protocols.
Sensor Connectivity
The 3-pin interface provides:
- VCC – Power supply
- GND – Ground
- Signal – Digital or analog signal
This arrangement is useful for connecting common Arduino sensors such as:
- Temperature sensors
- IR sensors
- Sound sensors
- Light sensors
- Motion sensors
- Touch sensors
- Gas sensors
- Distance sensors
- Push buttons
Communication Interfaces
I2C / IIC
The dedicated I2C interface can be used with compatible sensors, displays, RTC modules, EEPROMs, and other I2C peripherals.
Bluetooth
The shield provides a dedicated interface for compatible Bluetooth modules, making wireless communication and remote-control projects easier to assemble.
APC220
A dedicated APC220 interface is provided for compatible RF wireless communication modules.
SD Card
The SD card interface can be used for data logging, configuration storage, and other applications requiring removable storage.
Display Support
The shield provides interfaces for 12864 LCD modules and supports both serial and parallel connection methods according to the compatible display and wiring configuration.
This makes it useful for displaying:
- Sensor readings
- System status
- Menus
- Measurements
- Alerts
- User-interface information
Robotics and Servo Support
The Sensor Shield V5.0 is suitable for robotics projects where multiple sensors and actuators need to be connected to an Arduino UNO.
The board provides a logic interface for servo-control applications and can be used as a convenient connection point in multi-servo robotics projects.
For multiple or high-power servos, an appropriate external power supply should be used rather than relying solely on the Arduino UNO’s onboard regulator.
Typical Application Scenarios
Prototyping
Useful for quickly connecting multiple sensors to an Arduino UNO without extensive soldering or breadboard wiring.
Mobile Robotics
Suitable for connecting ultrasonic sensors, Bluetooth modules, servos, and other components used in mobile and autonomous robots.
Data Acquisition
The SD card interface allows the shield to be used in Arduino projects that record sensor readings over time.
Smart Home Displays
The 12864 LCD interface can be used to display environmental readings, device status, menus, and other information.
Educational Projects
Suitable for students and beginners learning Arduino GPIO, analog sensors, digital sensors, I2C communication, SPI, displays, and robotics.

Product Disclaimer
Product images are shown for illustrative and representational purposes only. The actual shield may vary slightly in PCB colour, connector arrangement, component placement, labeling, or other visual details depending on the manufacturing batch.
Arduino UNO, sensors, Bluetooth modules, APC220 modules, SD cards, LCD displays, ultrasonic sensors, servos, jumper wires, and other accessories shown in product images are not included unless specifically mentioned in the package contents.
Actual compatibility depends on the exact Arduino board revision, connected module, wiring, power requirements, and software configuration.
Important Notes
Power Supply
The shield provides convenient power connections for attached modules, but the Arduino UNO’s onboard regulator has limited current capability.
When using power-hungry devices such as multiple servos, motors, or heavily backlit displays, use a suitable external power supply for those devices.
Connector Compatibility
The sensor ports use standard 2.54mm spacing. Check the connector and pin arrangement of the sensor or module before connection.
Servo Power
Do not power multiple high-current servos directly from the Arduino UNO’s onboard regulator. Use an appropriately rated external supply and connect grounds correctly.
