Product description
The Square Force Sensing Resistor (44mm × 44mm) is a thin, flexible, pressure-sensitive sensor designed to detect force and applied pressure. Its electrical resistance changes according to the amount of force applied to the sensing area. As the applied force increases, the resistance decreases, making it suitable for touch detection, pressure sensing, grip detection, and interactive control applications.
With a detectable force range of approximately 100 grams to 10 kilograms, this sensor provides a simple and convenient solution for detecting physical pressure in robotics, automation, DIY electronics, and human-machine interface projects.
The sensor features a 44mm × 44mm square sensing area and a simple 2-wire interface. Its 2.54mm (0.1″) pin spacing makes it convenient to connect to breadboards, PCBs, Arduino boards, and other microcontroller-based systems.
The rear side includes a peel-and-stick adhesive backing, allowing the sensor to be easily mounted onto suitable flat surfaces. Its thin and flexible construction makes it suitable for applications where a compact and unobtrusive pressure sensor is required.
This force sensing resistor is intended primarily for force and pressure detection rather than precision weighing. It can be integrated into custom electronic circuits to monitor changes in applied force and trigger actions based on pressure levels.

Design and Construction
The Square Force Sensing Resistor features a compact 44mm × 44mm square sensing surface designed to detect pressure applied across its active area. Its thin and flexible construction allows it to be integrated into a variety of mechanical and electronic assemblies.
The sensor uses a force-sensitive resistive element whose electrical resistance changes according to the force applied to the sensing surface. This makes it possible to monitor relative changes in pressure using a suitable electronic circuit or microcontroller.
The sensor includes two electrical terminals with 2.54mm (0.1″) spacing, allowing straightforward connection to breadboards, PCBs, jumper wires, and microcontroller-based circuits.
A peel-and-stick adhesive layer is provided on the back of the sensor for convenient installation. This allows the FSR to be attached to suitable flat surfaces in robotics, control panels, interactive devices, and experimental setups.
Its lightweight and flexible construction makes it useful for applications where traditional rigid force sensors may not be suitable.
Working Principle
The Square Force Sensing Resistor operates by changing its electrical resistance when mechanical force is applied to its sensing surface.
When there is little or no pressure on the sensor, its resistance is typically very high, generally greater than 1MΩ. As force is applied to the sensing area, the resistance decreases.
The change in resistance can be measured using an electronic circuit, commonly with a voltage-divider arrangement connected to an analog input of a microcontroller such as an Arduino.
As the applied pressure increases, the measured electrical signal changes accordingly. The microcontroller can then use this signal to detect touch, estimate relative force levels, activate an output, or control another device.
The sensor is therefore a passive sensing component and does not independently generate a digital signal or require complex communication protocols.
