Working Principle

The two output pins remain electrically open when the button is not pressed. Pressing the yellow membrane key closes the internal contacts, allowing current to pass through the switch. When the button is released, the contacts open again.

The keypad can be connected between a microcontroller input pin and ground. The internal pull-up resistor of the microcontroller may be enabled to obtain a stable digital input.
